If you want to verify your registration, you can check online at http://sbcvote.com/Elections/VoterRegist... . Use the address where you registered; if you've moved since then, but within the city, you may still be able to vote. If the lookup doesn't work, or you have more questions about registration, you can call the County elections office at 568-2200.
Then if your ballot hasn't arrived, as Dave says, call the City Clerk's office at 564-5309, or visit them, to find out to obtain a replacement ballot.

Want to know what physicians REALLY have to say about the bill? See http://www.ama-assn.org/ama1/pub/upload/... for the American Medical Association's viewpoint.
Want to know what the League of Women Voters has to say? I found this brand-new press release on www.lwv.org :
"The public option in health care reform may not be essential to bureaucrats or insurance companies but it absolutely is essential to the almost 47 million uninsured Americans who live day to day without health care coverage," said League of Women Voters National President Mary G. Wilson. Calling on Congress and the President not to succumb to the bullying tactics being used by special interest groups, Wilson urged Congress and the President not to waver in their support of the public option included in H.R. 3200, America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, recently passed by three House committees."

Thanks for keeping us up to date, Ray! I believe you're the only one making fire progression maps for this fire, and they're really helpful to visualize what's happening.
Do you have any idea how much of the acreage increase was backfires? Inciweb says "successful burns" within the existing perimeters were "a significant portion" of that 10,000 acres, but it's hard to tell from the map.

One of the few polling places will be at the Braille Institute, so some provision will be made for blind voters. Maybe they'll use the system you've seen at all polling places the last few elections, with a ballot-marking device called the AutoMark. It's more generally useful than braille ballots, since not all blind voters use braille.

The League of Women Voters of Santa Barbara strongly supports Measure A.
It does not increase the sales tax; it continues the same rate we've been paying. And it's desperately needed; we need to keep working on both our roads and alternative transportation.
This is likely to be the best compromise we'll ever get, with the North and South County areas each choosing what will work best for them. Because it's so fair and balanced, and has strict public oversight to make sure of accountability, it has a very broad coalition of supporters, including every city council in the county.
The old Measure D expires in 2010, so we're really running out of time. As the Ventura County writer says from his experience, if we don't pass it now, we'll pay dearly later.

The article misquoted me slightly. Actually, what I said was that the League of Women Voters had consistently opposed measures like Props. 4 and 8. In 2000, voters did approve Proposition 22, which was overturned by a state Supreme Court decision in May of this year.
Both of these propositions threaten basic constitutional rights. Regardless of your personal feelings about either of these issues, it is wrong to use the ballot box to change fundamental rights and freedoms.
