Lucilla Kathryn Warren passed away on September 9, 2011, in Santa Barbara, California of heart failure, she was 68. Lucilla was born in Mesa, Arizona, on January 7, 1943, the daughter of George S. Warren, Jr. and Catherine Geraldine Warren. Her early life was spent with her family at construction and engineering projects in Arizona and California where her father was a construction engineer. Some of her most enjoyable years were spent living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains during the building of Lake Thomas A. Edison. Her family later moved to San Carlos, California where Lucilla became active in the Girl Scouts and spent her summers in the Sierras and other camping adventures. She graduated from Carlmont High School in 1960, and then attended San Jose State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in English. Lucilla began work after college in the area of systems and procedures administration and became a systems manager with the University of California at Berkeley for ten years. In 1976, Lucilla joined TTI in Santa Monica, the technology development division of Citicorp. During her 20 years at TTI, she was involved in a wide range of technology initiatives including user to system interfaces that required Lucilla to design and program interface screens and the related business logic. She also designed and implemented some of the very first new products for home banking, coordinating and leading a large network of working groups within Citicorp. Lucilla and her team members were granted several technology patents for their research and development. After Lucilla’s retirement from TTI she worked as a consultant for several years in internet marketing and offshore systems development.

Lucilla had an active and lively involvement with the arts and continual study that paralleled her professional career. Beginning in college and continuing with her years in Berkeley, Marin, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, she pursued her interests in fabrics, silk screen, printmaking, all combined into her work in fiber art. She worked on silk painting for many years and then worked on complex cloth, combining different surfaces and cloth types. These techniques led her to quilt making and wall hangings. While studying printmaking she developed solar plate images and was always learning new techniques to produce different kinds of art. Lucilla was also very active with the Santa Barbara Art Association, where she was a board member and editor of the SBAA newsletter. She was also a member of the Santa Barbara Printmakers, the Fiber Arts Guild, and Fibervision

Family was always very important to Lucilla and she spent many years researching her family history, tracing her ancestry back several hundred years to the founding of the colonies. Lucilla is survived by her brother Linn Warren, nieces and nephews Daniel Warren, Samantha Warren; Kristina, Matthew, Alexander and Julia Cydzik, cousin Gary Warren and his daughter Noel and in-laws Charlotte Keeley, Margaret Warren, Richard Cydzik, Edward and Ludmilla Cydzik.
