Many years ago, while walking on Stearn's Wharf with my soon to be wife, who was visiting from Massachusetts, I joked that in California, this was where people came to feed whales bread crumbs. For one second she contemplated the tale, before I was almost thrown in. We have laughed occasionally at my attempt at seeing if she was gullible: how fun that now its almost true.

Mr. Pritchett: I am not running for office. I am a registered voter in the city of Santa Barbara, that appreciates the secret ballot. I just asked if you would respond to some questions about your positions concerning local police enforcement raised by another poster, that's all. I'm not seeking a debate with you. If you don't want to state your positions, just say so. No need for an attack.

Yesterday at 11:56 "revisionist" asked David Pritchett some pointed questions about his positions on subject matters related to the topic of neighborhood violence. Usually Mr. Pritchett seems quick to follow up with responses to questions or comments directed at him. I'm interested in hearing a response given Mr. Pritchett's hinting at running for office.

With the exception of SB28 (no texting while driving, aka, common sense) these new laws combined will pertain to only a few hundred drivers at best out of a state population of 38 million. What a monumental waste of legislative time and further creation of bureaucracy.

While it is a matter of public record, why no breakdown on the vote? Without spin, the breakdown of those that voted against a competing proposition were: Iya Falcone, Roger Horton, Marty Blum, and Dale Francisco. The council members seeking to have a competing proposition were Das Willliams, Helene Schneider, and Grant House. I don't recall seeing previous reports on issues like these where the Independent failed to identify the council members by name for their particular stances and where they are only identified as "some councilmembers". Is it because of the outcome?

Option 4. Send your kid(s) back to the school you transferred your kid(s) from. That way you won't be uncomfortable about interacting with people who tirelessly seek to improve the school your kid(s) attend. Oops. Was that my outloud, non- "acute and unnerving glut of glee" voice?
