Being a "SBCC Student" isn't really saying that much - it's a commuter campus and half the town is/has taken a class there or at Adult Ed, making us ALL SBCC Students. Certainly the administration isn't responsible for what we do in the rest of our daily lives. There was a little bit more significance when it was speculated that these students were from a nearby private, residential campus. It's unfortunate that the sheriff's original press release was worded in a way so as to fire up the imagination; I think that was regrettable on his part.
No two ways about it - it was a stupid thing to start a bonfire up there - and they'll live with that for the rest of their lives. I personally feel sorry for them.

"Actually, we don't know this at all. I could quite possibly have been one or more of them who called in the tip. It's such a tragedy - for ALL involved."

Yikes! I meant to write "It could quite possibly" NOT "I could quite possibly" ....

"Would your child stand up and admit wrongdoing? Would you?

We now know that there are ten people in our community who would not - did not."

Actually, we don't know this at all. I could quite possibly have been one or more of them who called in the tip. It's such a tragedy - for ALL involved.

I'm very sorry to hear of Mr.Plamondon's passing; clearly he had a positive impact on many lives. That said, I must object to the comment, "Being at Vieja Valley we weren't quite as upset at losing our principal." I was very involved as a parent at Vieja Valley during this time, and we cerainly WERE upset to be losing our principal, however, it wasn't the first time that we'd lost a beloved principal to Hope School, and we took it in stride with the same grace and optimism that we did when Hope first re-opened and our Principal was transfered there. Both times we trusted that the change was made for the good of the district, and both times, Hope School was very lucky to have received such a fine principal from Vieja Valley.

The poster who commented that a better, less enflamatory title for this article would have been, "Mother of Talia Klein Sues Over Panama Plane Crash" is absolutely right. The last person in all of this who deserves to be vilified is Kim Klein.
Though I don't know Kim, I've seen her at horse shows with Talia and was ALWAYS struck by what "two peas in a pod" they were : frick and frack. Where there was one, there was the other; obviously extremely closely bound. It breaks my heart to think of the devastation Kim has been living with since the accident. I'm sorry to know that the Klein family has had a hand in making a difficult time even worse; there's just no reason for it.

On Ex-Wife of Michael Klein Sues Over Panama Plane Crash

Kim Klein lost more than any other survivor the day that plane crashed, and while no amount of money will bring her little girl back, I think it's terrible to call her a "gold-digger." There are hundreds of millions of dollars in Michael Klein's estate, most of which Michael and Kim's daughter Talia was probably heir to. Of course Kim should be compensated for the loss of Talia -- it's crazy to think otherwise. That poor woman ...
