PS - My point about more learning environment classes, is that even as a "well seasoned" rider, we ALWAYS have room for improvement! Have fun and stay safe!

Lots of things here to say...1) Congratulations! and welcome to the awesome world of riding.2) Please, go get more "learning environment" skills with a few more motorcycle safety courses, even if it's on your own dime, it's worth every penny and your life (as well as others), as with all due respect to you, your field and your efforts, one class is not enough, especially since you just started from scratch. 3) Be careful - now you're joining the ranks of the rest of us out there on two wheels, along with everyone else in their big metal boxes, many of whom are distracted and/or not even capable (or willing) of driving safely with any concern for others.

Yeah, I think we need a better descriptive for someone who clearly, is not "a man", yet not "a child" any more either. Oh wait, we have one: A teenager.

"I was sorry to have my name mentioned as one of the great authors, because they have a sad habit of dying off. Chaucer is dead, Spencer is dead, so is Milton, so is Shakespeare, and I’m not feeling so well myself." -Mark Twain

Ms.Jackson... are you serious? Is it April Fools day? While I see no harm in it either (I think it's a great idea to get the younger generation active in politics) however, you're missing the point of your job, as our community has much BIGGER ISSUES that we'd all like you to actually deal with.

This is awesome news! Thanks for making the effort to make this a reality, and even though I live down the road a bit (SB) I'll be happy to donate what I can and spread the word! We definitely need more fun physical outdoor activities like this in ALL our communities!

How about the city pay a group of people who need and want to work for a week or so, and WASH all the damn signs. THEN perhaps, if it's still needed to be determined - have the survey done... While I too, think it's absurd we have to pay $72k for it, I can also imagine the flip side of this scenario... Say, when someone driving like an a-hole and/or under the influence crashes and decides to sue the city because "the sign wasn't reflective enough" - well, you do the math - $72k is cheap comparatively speaking.

So F#$%@ Sad. Only 13 yrs for Rodriguez? He gets out in no time... Meanwhile, his incredibly poor/stupid decision to drive all jacked up apparently has no fiscal repercussions for him. Why not register him and once he's out, he has to report in and any job he has, his wages are garnished and it goes to the families he's destroyed - for the rest of his life.
Not to sound callous, but even though it's insurance, it STILL costs us all... and I'm dumfounded how this got to $4.8m. Yes this was/is tragic, yes the families need help, but why is this the County's sole responsibility? Just because the deputy didn't turn on his overhead lights right away? Were his headlights off too? No? I think it's ludicrous to place 100% of the financial burden on someone (or entity) who clearly, was not the instigating and most important factor in this whole unfortunate mess: Rodriguez.
