If they are getting people off the road who really are DUI, and they are doing it efficiently and legally and honestly, then I applaud them.

It was not WHAT rstein said, but the judgmental tone. As several others have just pointed out there are plenty of reasons that have NOTHING to do with being drunk and stupid. That was one of my points. The other was the insensitivity.

One could be distracted by his spouse, kids, job, or a million other things..
Why do you think they are called 'accidents' anyway?
This whole idea that we can assign blame when we find alcohol, or even required prescription drugs is an epidemic all itself. Sometimes bad things just happen.
If you want to 'blame' someone for 'causing' an accident when they are at low levels of alcohol (like your example) then there needs to be a law that makes it illegal to drive with even minimal impairment.
IF you can get such a law enacted, I have great faith that the majority will abide. But UNTIL that law is passed, let's stop with the bait and switch. If you tell people it is okay to drink and then drive by making the legal limit .08 (which means if you drink up to a .079 you may still drive) then law abiding citizens WILL drink and then drive.
Is it wise? Not necessarily. Is it illegal? Not in the least.

It sounded like Mr. Lyons' attorney made the most compelling argument for conviction when he said: "it's time to end this".
File that under 'be careful what you ask for".
