Thank you Mayor Schneider-
Caltrans plans are always what is best for Caltrans, much to the detriment
of the taxpayers who live there. If you allow them to, they will move into Montecito and stay for decades, like they have done in Santa Barbara.
They play the "safety card", but it's really a cover up to maximize costs of labor time and materials. Any independent audit of their projects will expose this.

Such a lucid and well written press release! I can see why it took 16 months to write.

Chris Meager, perhaps a follow up is in order, or maybe a series? You could do a montage of photos from Santa Maria to Oxnard of dogs taking dumps, c#m stains, and vending machine snacks. Definitely Pulitzer material.

I agree Spiritwalker, WTF is this article trying to say? The fact that they found a c#m stain at a Motel 6 is not news. Pictures of a Motel 6 vending machine is not news either. Chris, I hate to break the bad news, but this article may not get you any closer to a Pulitzer. Maybe next time the Independent can publish an article that contains substance and integrity. Or maybe that ship has sailed already...

They got back $20 Billion is subsidies!!!

Benzene exposure is a by product of oil drilling, and does not belong
next to bedroom communities.

What a horrible idea. Benzene and other carcinogenic volatile organic compounds vented right next to a bedroom community.
We can always change Carpinteria's motto from "The World's Safest Beach", to "Better Hold Your Breath Beach". The Oil and gas industry has a horrible reputation for destroying the environment and then having their lawyers fight in court for several decades rather than pay settlements. The Oil and gas industry cares only for profits, and if Carpinteria is destroyed, they will happily pocket the profits and move on to destroy the next town. My relatives in the Gulf of Mexico are still gettting sick from the shellfish there, courtesy of BP. Please do an internet search for "Love Canal" "Exxon Valdez", and "Erin Brockovich".

Have the District Attorneys in the Santa Barbara County office ever been to Law School? If so, did they cut class and smoke pot when their Law Class studied the Constitution of the USA?
Here is the 10th Amendment to the Constitution, which exposes this case, and the S.B. D.A's office as a fraud.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
