Would be interested in hearing about Zach's IV days. If my memory is correct, Jack Johnson was in SOIL and Zach was in Django, and would both play the same parties.

The first time I heard Zach was at the now-defunct Spike's on Hollister and Fairview, while he was with Django. He just slowly started playing whatever was on the jukebox at the time on his keyboard, and they faded the jukebox and Django took over. Awesome.

Hollister through Old Town might be the single most dangerous stretch of road to cyclists, which is why us Goleta commuters go all the way down to the beach or all the way up to Cathedral Oaks.

It wouldn't take much to add at least one East-West street in the 1,000-2,000 block that has a real bike lane. With how nice the Obern trail is from UCSB to Hope Ranch, it would seem logical to improve that all the way to Mission, then go east on Mission to State. Imagine a Class I lane from UCSB to Stearns Wharf.
