Almost no one with employer paid health insurance pays income tax on that benefit or is it counted as salary..

No matter how you cut it, there are 12 months in the year. Schools maybe in session only 9 months, but teachers have to pay rent, utilities, mortgages and car payments 12 months a year. Some even go to school in the summer to further their education and become better teachers.

Where is your evidence that Hamas kidnapped and murdered the youths? There are multiple accounts that a gang in Hebron murdered them the first day. Even so, if Hamas in Hebron committed this crime, why bomb Gaza?
Finally, America is a continent, the United States is a county. I do not fear Hamas.

While I like trains, have ridden trains and think the LOSSAN corridor should be massively upgraded, trains alone are not the solution. Much of the traffic on 101 are cars and trucks and RV's trying to get through Santa Barbara heading to points north or south. No amount of rail improvements will change that.

The Bundy family may not have been there 130 years.
He either owes taxes or rent on that property. He seems to think he should pay neither.

If it is his land, where are the tax bills and payments? Nevada law on adverse possession requires open and notorious occupation and payment of 5 years of taxes. Bundy is just a squatter refusing to pay the required fees to graze.

"The Bundy's inhabited and farmed that land for over 130 years, it is their land, PERIOD."
Then there should be some record of them paying property taxes. If not, they are squatters.

It is actually easier to remove the "stuff" from sewage than salt from seawater. Instead of restarting the desal plant, why not convert it to advanced purification for treated sewage, and then pump the resultant clean water into local reservoirs to mix with runoff for use?

The answer is simple. We should not be growing water intensive crops in a desert. No more cotton in the Central Valley. Perhaps almonds either. The way to do this is simple, increase the price of water that the farmers receive. And no more 40 year contracts for water, either.

The coastal areas are actually pretty good on their water use.
As for farmers, perhaps their are certain crops that are simply too water intensive to be grown in CA. And should we use subsidized water to grow subsidized corps?
