WOW-44 comments so far, and only a handful of them actually address the article-most are snarky back-and-forth s espousing the Commenters' own agendas. Great that 44 PEOPLE (without any adjectives) got a roof over their heads-no matter what the source or location. Big thanks to the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara "HACSB"(NOT a County entity, BTW)

I realize this is an Op-Ed piece, but here's some fact:
The "road" to the Reagan Ranch(Refugio Rd.) is one reason Measure M has some support. It has not had much real maintenance since Reagan was in office. I took some visitors up the the Ranch and was embarrassed because of the road's condition. It is just a series of patches upon patches, with thousands(literally) of potholes. Supervisor Doreen Farr and the Public Works Dept should be embarrassed as well.

We're getting off track and ignoring the Human side here...He's not a young man anymore-if you remove his (and his Family's) income source, what next? He did the crime knowingly and should be punished, but this is a llittle severe IMO.

Maybe ALL parade entrants should pay a 'litter fee' to help off-set the cost to the City, but denying only one entrant based on their alleged littering is carrying Parade Politics a little too far.
I may not agree with Veterans for Peace, but no one should deny them their right to voice their opinion.

+2 PeterPeli..When the dog is out of sight of owner and feels 'threatened'(if only by the appearance of Hikers or Hunters) it's a pretty scary situation and you don't know what the dog is capable of.
I'm a Hunter and a Dog owner- as a Hunter, when I'm done hunting, my weapon is un-loaded & cleared.
When walking my dogs, they are always on-leash or in my sight & under control.
I feel sorry for both parties here-it's something that neither will ever forget.
