I have to agree with Tam - Eastman presents himself as a discerning and careful scientist, one who follows the evidence with an open mind. I find his responses quite lucid and easy to follow..he is careful to qualify that unlike those who have a top down approach, a more rigorous path is one where the search for evidence continues, and requires an open mind. I understand him to be saying that both gravity AND EM/plasmas are found to be active components in the toolkit needed to build a better understanding. Looking forward to the next installment!

Amidst all this hue and cry about conspiracy, self-interest and impact on local commerce, I looked in vain for a voice addressing the steelhead restoration aspect of this project. Self-interest galore, however anything but enlightened.

To PK - Perhaps Tam has Tigger referencing a hidden author because he isn't aware of Tam as the single hand. I myself use both hands, what with the eclipse of penmanship and the rise of the machines but thats another story.. anyway, Tigger and Eeyore are certainly story within story within story. As for the unfortunate term "plagiarism", let's not mistake the flapping for the breeze..

I agree with SezMe - -Even Hofstadter is careful to reference his sources; Godel's exploration of the ancient Cretan (Epimenides) paradox "all Cretans are liars" leads to much more clever dialogues between Achilles and the Tortoise than this fuzzy fluff. As Eeyore would say, Oh Bother!

The terrace was a mis-step from the beginning - If only we could now retrieve the old heritage oak that was "disappeared" to make way for the wedding and concert venue that this current management envisioned...

Requiem for a redwood - One of the noble ancient ones falls before the selfish myopia of an arrogant "owner" with such short-sighted notions of what constitutes a native (is this person a native?). Spare us from these types of owners, with such foolish perceptions of property rights... This tree was well loved in the neighborhood, provided habitat for hundreds of beings, should have been cherished and protected, and will be mourned. I say plant a redwood this weekend... I know I will.
