We rely on carbon for energy and so much else. Look at all the plastic around us (in cars, packaging, computers) plus all the gas we need, the heat & AC we use in our homes. Catastrophes of this nature are inevitable, the best we can do for the environment is reducing the demand for oil & plastic or for humans to go extinct.

Thank you Deborah for raising awareness of the plight on Thailand's dogs and for doing something about it! You didn't go into gory detail in the interview but a simple Youtube search will yield soul-crushing footage of these poor dogs. They indeed need our help and I hope we can educate the Thai people about compassion towards animals at the same time.

Soul-less architecture like this belongs down in Orange County, not IV. Keep Isla Vista weird! I do like the environmental bonuses though, finally something nice from IV landlords....

Who chose this photo? All riders should wear a helmet all the time! Even you dressage folks; horses are wonderful but unpredictable animals. Be careful and have fun at the show.

Horses are animals not Barbie dolls; having seen the inferior horsemanship of this particular horse owner time and time again I am unsurprised to find her the owner. Forcing a horse to frolic in the waves when terrified is beyond idiotic - just because you can afford horses doesn't mean you should.
