Ride Gibraltor. Love Gibraltor.

Those who loath riders like myself, would you rather have fat lazy slobs gobbling up tax dollars for liposuction?

Anyone who has the courage to ride up and down this epic climb is a hero, and those who scoff at the cyclists aren't angry for the rider's actions, but for their own inactions.

Get out of the car and on the bike. You'll be amazed at how beautiful the world becomes, and how beautiful you become. - AB in SB on a Spec S-Works Carbon Epic

On Gibraltar Road Closing for Major Repairs

As one who rides (solo) almost every day of the year in Santa Barbara, I just want to say thank you to alllll the considerate drivers on our roads.

I've pedaled in many many spots around the world, and the Santa Barbara drivers are by far the best toward cyclists, so huge thanks.

And to all the riders, pleaseeeeee don't ruin this relationship by blasting through red lights and stop signs. While you expect a driver to safely pass you, please return the respect to them by stopping then you are supposed to stop. Especially fixies. Every time you blast through red lights on State St etc, you put a ding in what it perhaps the best car/bike relationship in the country.

As for the packs and a driver stuck behind, while frustrating, it does only take perhaps a minute or two of your 100± years of life, whereas getting angry and passing when its too close/dangerous could take an entire life from someone, so please be patient, it's no different than getting stuck waiting for a train or red light, but feels different because you have someone to blame.

Other than that, huge thanks to every driver who has passed me giving me plenty of room on the road after waiting until it was safe. My five and a half year old boy expects me to return home after a ride, and you make it possible. Thank you. - AB in SB on Laguna St

You can debate all you want between bananas and coal plants etc, but the truth is out there, and it's not hard to find.

This article spells it out from a well-seasoned sailor who made the journey from Oz to Hawaii via the Fukushima fallout....

Been living in SouthEastAsia past couple years, and violence like this is almost 0. So nice it was to cruise around without a worry. -AB in SB

I live in Bali, and this island is completely destroyed from plastics. The ocean is spewing bags on to the sand, completely covering beaches all over Bali. The rivers, you can see the high water line, as it's an endless string of red and black and clear plastic bags caught in the tree limbs. Irrigation canals, full and bubbling over in plastics. And the air, burning plastic everywhere, creating Dioxin, 50,000 times more toxic than the #2 most toxic airborne chemical. Plastic shouldn't be banned in SB. It should be banned worldwide. But, f it. As it's too late. The oceans are already stuffed to the gills, and the developing worlds are tossing like mad, so whatever SB does won't make a difference. - AB in Bali and Santa Barbara
