You don't ban them, you charge for them (like they do in Europe), and redesign then out of biodegradable materials. $.50 per bag if you forgot to bring your own. Simple and effective.

I lived in Santa Barbara for years. The recession forced me to move to where the jobs were - back to the bay area. It really made me mad to see how few jobs are available in the area. It's only for the rich and the city counsel wants to keep it that way!

Lets go out and see our imaginary friends in the park! Not I'm not on drugs, I am religious. We have imaginary friends too, but since it's religion no one things we're weird or anything.

Maybe the city counsel should read this, then maybe they wouldn't chase popular events out of town (hello West Beach Music fest).
If they want to keep the tourism industry alive, they need to give it the tools it's needs to be vibrant and alive. Picking and choosing their favorites, and running the rest out of town if they personally dislike it, isn't good business for the city, or for anyone.

Wait a second, the deputy comes to HIS property, harasses HIM. She pulls out her tazer, he wrestles it from her and then tazers her (which she had planned doing to him obviously). Then he runs away.
And they want to charge HIM with attempted murder?
She attempted to tazer him originally. How about charging her for attempted murder? She then SHOT him as he was running away. How about charging her again with attempted murder?
What's with our law enforcement thinking they are above the law and above protecting the citizens who pay their salaries?
It's no wonder most people see police as "the enemy".

The DA, Sheriff and Chief of Police all need to get tossed out. They are ignoring the will of the voters and the voices of the citizens that put them in their positions.
It's so bad we actually had to resort to turning to the Feds for relief? That makes me sad - it shouldn't have come to this. It just goes to show how crazy some of the people we have running our city truly are.

When all is said and done and the book on Das Williams is closed, I think overall he did a good job for the city of Santa Barbara.
I hope the city counsel can replace him with someone else with as much passion and drive as he had, regardless of party. Someone who at least tries to make things happen, rather then more hand waving and talking about stuff that never gets done.

Wasn't that guy running an illegal "dispensary" at one time out of his storage unit/garage until he was shut down?
Criminals are criminals, it's just too bad he had to drag a marijuana dispensary down with him.
Now the cops have the weed (good luck getting it back unnamed dispensary), the dispensary that was robbed will probably be getting a visit from police (whole other story), and meanwhile the dispensary probably can't recover from a loss of 50lbs of marijuana (50lbs x $3000lbs = $150k loss).
I hope this dude gets the book thrown at him.
