Wouldn't it be nice to be Wendy's attorney? You wouldn't need any other clients. Just like Larry Flynt's character in The People vs. Larry Flynt when his attorney tried to refuse to
defend him, he said, "I'm your best client, I'm rich and I'm always in trouble!"

The fact of the matter is that the cops don't really want anyone to go to trial. They would prefer that you resist arrest enough that they can kill you.

Actually, Hank, stoned liberals are much less likely to crash their cars than drunk conservatives.

Cuts to programs like In Home Supportive Services are pennywise and poundfoolish. Providing services in one's home cost considerably less than the cost of providing these services within an assisted living facility or nursing home. Keep in mind: it is not that these services are not necessary. The recipients of these services will need this help regardless of where the recipient resides. It is simply cheaper for the taxpayer if the recipient lives at home.

With the D.A.'s decision not to file charges against DeNunzio for resisting arrest, Officer Tudor's reckless behavior during the arrest will cost the City of Santa Barbara several hundred thousand dollars in a civil lawsuit if it goes to trial. The city will try to settle out of court and should be happy if they are lucky enough to get out of this for $100,000.

One of the problems in the past was this department's failure to bill the feds for services provided to those on SSI. Is this still a problem?
