Holly, do your homework...there are ALREADY many cell phone antennas and large ones at that in MONTECITO! This effort has worked hard to find alternate sights in MONTECITO, that are not directly in front of peoples homes or schools, with little cooperation from NextG. The goal is not to rid MONTECITO of all cell phone antennas but to put them in the least offensive areas. Pinatubo...the utility poles and the cell phone antennas are 2 entirely different issues...utility poles are So.Cal Edison. Underground installation of utility poles would be welcomed by all I am sure but the cost is prohibitive!

This cell phone antenna installation is not about MONTECITO! It is about protecting your rights as a homeowner. Many communities across the country have opposed these cell phone antennas and they are not all wealthy communities. This opposition is going to be beneficial to all of Santa Barbara, not just Montecito. As far as NIMBY goes, Montecito residents have attempted to work with NextG to find alternate locations in Montecito that are not as offensive as those they have chosen. For the most part it has been unsuccessful. Montecito and Santa Barbara residents are people who take pride in their community and want to maintain the beauty of it.
