On that we can agree, Jessica, "use protection!" Excellent point. As for the rules I follow, it doesn't matter. But I will say that my moral values have kept me out of jail and people generally like me.

Actually, Jessica, I don't see the "ignorance" in my comment. If you believe that abortion is truly wrong then fine. More power to you. But the fact remains there are far too many young people having babies that are neither emotionally or financially able to support them. This is truly sad.
As for your last paragraph: "If we ban abortion, I have a feeling there would be a huge decrease in unwanted/unplanned pregnancies. So the whole overpopulation argument might not be so strong." I strongly doubt that. Many young people aren't going to think about the consequences of their actions. Only the passion that they feel for each other. For older people you might be right.
Also, for many anti-abortion people, this is a Christian issue. I have no religious faith nor see the need for one, and therefore have no reason to abide by the rules of a God that I don't believe in.
I think that most pro-abortion people will agree with me.

I am delighted on PPs choice for the new Tri-County chapter president. She clearly has lots of great things planned.
For the people who are offended by abortions, be offended -- that's your right -- and don't have one then. Family planning (including abortions) should be left up to the mother and father. This is not an issue that should be decided by anyone but them. At a time when the world is getting overpopulated and we are outstripping our resources, doesn't it make sense to terminate a pregnancy when the parents aren't emotionally or financially ready to raise a child. Does the anti abortion groups want to feed, clothe, nurture all the unwanted unloved children of this world? Should the taxpayer pay for this?
Would the Tri-County chapter be performing the abortions? Or would it recommend a provider? I'd like to point out that the PP facility in the city where I now live does not do abortions. It sends pregnant women to outside providers.
Antiabortion groups aren't really pro-life as they claim. They are pro-abortion and they really do need to mind their own business.

As usual, Ray, you are so right! I love to hike alone, but I am aware of my abilities and limitations. I never exceed them!

I am so sorry to hear this. I've known Norby since grade school and we were in Troop 104 together. RIP Norby.

A waste of money in my opinion. If the person wants to commit suicide he/she will find another way to do it. Would have been better to take the money spent on the barrier and use it for mental health care for people who can't afford it.

That would be a really bad idea to shut down Diablo Canyon. Whom ever came up with that idea needs to get real.

This is excellent news. Now Wendy McCall has to pay and pay dearly for her unfair labor practices.

Without question we need to be developing green energies. I live in Nevada (after nearly 40 years of living in Santa Barbara and Goleta) and Sen. Harry Reid is working hard to make sure we have them. However, until we get there, we need to pursue oil drilling and at the same time reducing our reliance on Middle East oil & gas. Yes, drill for oil in the Santa Barbara Channel, Alaska, Gulf of Mexico etc. I was disappointed that Schwarzenegger terminated the Tranquillon Ridge Project. As a consumer, I want relatively inexpensive gas to power my car. I will not have that if environmentalists continue to put of road blocks on oil & gas development projects. I can't see oil production ever going away completely, because we use it other products; plastics for example. So oil companies, drill away with my blessings. However, at some point we won't need you for energy production because we will have cleaner energies from which to obtain our power.

I agree that its a waste of money. Better to spend the money on mental health services that would go a long way to prevent suicides.
