I agree with twodeko, and I also saw it up close, firsthand.
And there's a glaring editorial mistake in the article, btw... It was at about 800+ capacity, not at all just 100 people.

I'm really appreciating this angle, Aly. I couldn't bring myself into IV yet so soon after the chaos... But if I had, I would have definitely gone to this Biko event. The co-ops in IV, SBDIY, and Josh Redman are total inspirations. Readers really should look more into their positive scene!

I don't agree that the "cringe-worthy" material was unintentionally funny (including the references to high- and popular-culture -- the so-called "hipster" dialogue). Jim Jarmusch has always had a quirky sense of humor.
After viewing it this past Weds. night, I've found myself thinking about it a lot ever since. And while it may not be particularly "frightening," I think it was most definitely haunting. And what a terrific love story, beautifully acted!
IMHO, this film is, flat-out, a modern vampire masterpiece. I wish Metropolitan Theatres would keep the masterful Jarmusch's flicks around for more than a week. What a shame they don't let them find an audience!
