I don't want to offend anyone but in the 21st century the truth is offensive-Let's ask the question how many Latinos receive food stamps-that's EBT people-and free lunch at school in addition to numerous other food welfare programs.Could one then deduct that free food gives you diabetes? It's kind of like when you pay for something yourself you take better care of it than when you are given it for free.If non Hispanic whites raise healthier kids why don't we get a break having kids rather than going broke paying for our two and their four. The reality is that Progressive programs created these problems which in turn require more Progressive programs to attempt to fix them at the expense of those who do pay for their own food etc.

I find it "not" funny that the Latino Movement has hijacked MLK day to push its own agenda and use the Black Lives Matter moniker and make mentions of Eric Garner and Michael Brown killings by cops as the greatest threat by far to a young black man is a Latino Gangbanger looking to earn his stripes.

OK-so they are ranked #1 among Sociology departments.IMO the best yardstick in judging a departments relevance is which ones are the Chinese students enrolled in-I doubt there are ANY in the Sociology Dept.

I'm sure Prof Rios' next column will be detailing his upcoming trip to central Mexico to seek answers and justice regarding the massacre of 25 student activists there. No doubt he will have no problem finding several dozen UCSB doctoral students who are already expert muckrakers to join him.

Glad that students Gomez and Maya can protest safely with good press exposure here in racist Santa Barbara-In their home country student protesters get shot, burned and thrown in the river...

Blame the food choices people make and not the stores for our looming health crisis Loon.People just need to avoid eating processed foods-anything with a paragraph for the ingredient panel-or any ingredients containing the last 3 letters of the alphabet.

So The Professor "No longer stays current" on issues regarding growth.I guess as long as the growth comes from 'indigenous"peoples dependent on the government and the Non-Profit Industrial Complex and not from the highly educated and resourceful workers of the Military Industrial Complex as it was then, it's OK or even seen as a positive by progressives.
