oh darn straight stress disability is real! I DID quit. I quit the government job I thought I'd retire from. so did quite a few of my colleagues. I didn't sue or look into disability. no energy for that. All it takes to be destroyed is one person, one bully and a few mistakes. It costs all of us a lot.Long ago, before Cottage took it over, Rehab Institute was the best, most inclusive, open-management place I ever worked at. Not to mention the mission and the buy-in from every committed and caring employee. What other place lets you talk to all VP's & President at quarterly all-staff meetings, ask about the economics and get a honest answer?!!They HAD to go with Cottage; lowered reimbursement and Rehab staff and admin fighting for appropriate patient stay length doomed them. The health care industry doomed them. Their option was closing. I am glad Rehab is still here. But it is no longer "the Rehab Institute" many of us have known and loved and been saved by. Bless you, Dr. Meisel.

Interesting. It's not just condors who get lead poisoning from their food:
(of course they shouldn't have made a game of 'making the pellets disappear'! Which was not the explanation of the second case cited at the end of the article.)

That smile was my first impression too. So mocking, so brutal, so stupid, useless & malicious. And one still has to hold their pants up. (though they're jail clothes and I have sweat pants that require a safety pin.)RIP, Mr. Ied.

"And the craft has taken off in S.B."Really? It took off a long time ago. Shout out for D'Angelos also; I prefer it to Our Daily Bread.

Mr. Gilbert (yes, I too know you as Willie) this is a lovely, heart-felt and heart-rending memorial. Thank you very much for sharing it with us who so miss the restaurant and its communality. My best wishes to the family, and all Mr. Chung's friends. (and a personal warm wish from me to Pearl.) Peace to all of you.

I'm almost speechless. Do you people have jobs?! I cannot believe the level of engagement here; glad KV & Spirit missed each other (what the heck?!). I know, I shouldn't comment or read if I don't enjoy it, but it is an interesting relationship/pathology and I'm occasionally entertained. That previous suggestion of exchanging email addresses was a good one. Also, I've been reading this paper since it was the News & Review; it's hard not to look at the comments occasionally."Oh No! Someone on the Internet is WRONG!" lol

Thanks Zappa. I realized I had left "despicable" out of my post to and about Genis, Esq. I agree, and now I hope to ignore the man -- apart from reading about him, especially if Mr. Welsh is writing!

"Perhaps Nick will Benifit [sic] from that act of charity since he appears either like a practicing crackhead, or a dying aids patient."
Oh Mr. Genis. Shame on you, as a writer (or someone who thinks he can; I shudder to imagine your pleadings) and member of the SB community, let alone an attorney. Anyone who publicly expresses such a sentiment or belief is a pitiful being.
I thought Mr. Welsh had a few decent, non-vile/non-attacking things to say about you. Yes, my radar may be wholly off-kilter and I'll have to read past comments and interactions.I was once a paralegal in a meaningful practice that truly protected the public (I don't want to identify myself by defining it, but we helped protect children). In part from my work, but mostly as a citizen, I realize how unprofessional you are, as all it takes to see what you are is reading local media and most especially YOUR POSTS! But I do grudgingly congratulate you on some parts of your work, because it brings issues to light. Too bad that you are the biggest issue.
You certainly do not deserve attention. You are a grand-stander and an Internet troll. I intend to treat you as such.
