I travel frequently from Montecito to Downtown via the Biltmore -> East Beach -> State Street route. MUCH of this route is a designated bike path, with signs, marked lanes, etc. And kudos to the City for establishing this route, as its safe, effective, and well maintained. BUT, It is very frustrating that the stretch from Fess Parker to State St. gets flooded with all types of pedestrians from skateboarders to clueless picture taking tourists, while the sidewalk on Cabrillo is wide open. I have resorted to using the sidewalk on several occasions. This is so dis-functional! Maybe the city should make that sidewalk the bike path?
