This is good for when you cannot see print media or just have a few minutes to get updated. In certain areas of San Marcos Pass also check "public information radio station" AM 1040 for the local area Wildland Residents Association, Inc. "GAP FIRE" report (south radio coverage is much of Goleta to West Santa Barbara City and also www.wildlandresidents.org). Of course there is local media such as news and broadcast websites such as this government web sites as well.

Ps, Like the 27th of June 1990 Paint Fire, Because of the possiblity of hot embers, large amount of "fuel" (tall brush) and fire heat "flying", if later the wind picks up in those kinds of high winds the fire can actually move nearly as fast as the wind is moving (up to a mile a minute!).
