Public Libraries are very attentive to privacy issues and so I never looked up Newt Wayland. It is with some astonishment that I read of his life and accomplishments. What I know of Newt came from our exchanges at the library over music, scores, conductors and performances. Newt was, of course, extremely knowledgeable about most things musical. Always enthusiastic and ebullient about whatever he was talking, Newt was a learned gentleman with a fantastic sense of humor -- a man on a mission, with drive and a sense of urgency. So much music and so little time. He will be missed in Montecito, and it sounds like in quite a few other places, too.
"Whoever renders service to many puts himself in line for greatness - great wealth, great return, great satisfaction, great reputation, and great joy." by Jim Rohn
Thank you, Newt, for sharing your great self.
