We've already had a charismatic, successful, wealthy business person sincerely try to make some progress in California with dismal results. For better or worse the Calif legislature is party bound, and tied up in deal making (it is our way). We need a seasoned, visionary politician/negotiator who is also a true Leader and Advocate for all the people of California. Jerry Brown will bring order & progress back to or legislature process, Meg can only continue the power struggle between the 'BIG Business Executive' and the 'public servants', if you want another 4 years of this horror show Meg is your gal.If you want a return to sanity, a chance to do this differently, to create a California where Everyone prospers, Jerry Brown should be your decision.

Does anyone else think the idea of a special trip to a huge liquor store, to spend even 30 minutes of your life marveling over the prices and selection of booze is a little odd, pathetic? Yeah, I'm being judgmental, I'll own it, but come on.... why is the opening day of an out of town, anonymous corporation selling a consumable item, with little redeeming value and already available on just about every street in SB, cause for an event??? 'oh boy! lets go look at bottles of vodka!!!!'

I so agree w Taz.....Olive Garden?! Ross!? Cheapish, crappy, anonymous goods and services - not good or of true service....... Be grateful and patronize your hard working, local resources to keep national chains out of Goleta. If Chipotle came to Goleta, El Baijo, El Sitio etc could fail.....Chains drive up rents and ultimately force out small businesses, middle class/low income singles & families. So many of the things you wish for will force YOU out of your neighborhood...by the way, along w Effie, the seamstress, you have an excellent butcher at the Santa Cruz Market. I bet you could find a mechanic to trust if you asked around, maybe always bought your gas at the same place - you know, get to know your neighbors.....

Typically this is a $4-5000. job incl sinks, drains and supporting plumbing. Couldn't one of our very sucessful restaurantuers and or plumbing companies ante up this unit and installation.....or how about 10 of them getting together & pitch in a point. And use it to generate some positive publicity..A few who come to mind....Lucky's/Joe's/d'Angelo's, Harry's Plaza, Holdren's, Enterprise Fish, Andersen's, the great Mexican Food spot across from the Arlington, Seagrass/Bouchon, Los Arroyos, El Sitio, Daily Grind, Chipotle, and the bigger plumbing companies....This is the kind of project that contributes to everyone's quality of life here in Santa Barbara. No one gets more until everyone has enough....

For pointssouth, if you'd really like to experience what comes with an 'attraction garden'. Visit Descanso or the Huntington on a holiday, a Thursday (field trip day) or a Saturday in June, the traffic, the filled parking lot, the idling busses, the fast food trash, the caterer's trucks, the musicians...it pretty unpleasant. The Huntington and Descanso are wondrful gardens but they are as different from SBBG as night and day. Why does everything need to be improved, expanded, developed, why can't it remain a garden of quiet discovery and research?

If one lives adjacent to a 'wild space' and the neighbors have reported a sighting - keep your pets inside between dusk and dawn or be ready for the loss and or damage to a dear pet. Running a stop sign doesn't always result in a crash, neither does ignoring the rhythms of your environment but in both cases no one should be surprised when the consequence comes due. Small dogs out at 9:45 are an invitation to dinner.Wild animal predation is a reality that residents get awfully blase about until it is their pet and then its 'trap it, relocate it, kill it, why can't the county fix this?' !!! Just keep your pets inside in the PM.

Does this seem out of place to anyone else? This news made me uneasy and after my regular trip to the Saturday Mkt it still bothers me. The presence of a huge corporation in the strict 'local, can't sell it if you didn't grow it', no second certs' ethos felt really invasive and so 'Santa Monica'.I just hope the Market organization got a load of $$$ for letting this happen......

Animals ALWAYS pay the price when there are $$$$ to be made, prizes to be won......breeders but perhaps even more so, the trainers, may begin for the love of the sport (??!!) but it always becomes about breaking even if not profitting....dogs, horses, pot bellied pigs, reptiles, cats, miniature cattle (what's up with that??) the list is endless...
