I was in SB county jail for 6mo. Twice my lawyer told the Judge that I needed to see a doctor because my foot would start to burn if I walked any distance. Twice it was ordered and nothing ever happened. After I was finally out I had a main artery clot in my leg and a 150,000.00 hospital stay. I was told it was too bad I didn't do something about it earlier. I did...but SB didn't. I can't sue because it's past 6 mo. Now my foot and leg are always numb and may have to have it amputated someday.

Give me a break! When is the last time a inmate going across Figueroa caused anyone harm? They put them in leg restraints and hand cuffs. I think Santa Barbara just wants to hide them from the tourists, being that it's right down town. What a city...walk by 25 homeless people...next thing you know you're seeing a Felon walking across the street! Get me out of this town!!!!

I live right there and I wish they would at least clean up the site in the meantime. Looks like hell.

In DUI cases the judge has to go by minimum guidelines and his hands are tied. He can give more...but not less. The bottom line is the only thing that can help is if this lady wants help. Not just lip service saying how sorry she is....In her case the booze will talk to her again unless she stops drinking. Insanity is what it is. Now if she had Cancer...would the answer be put her in jail? I think not...it's the same thing folks....and like Cancer it does not ignore people in the public eye. It took me 6 DUI's a Felony charge and a year at the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission to face my drinking (problem). It's more than a Problem....

She says she'll never do it again? I said that 6 times over the years. And I always went to jail....I finally got help...I don't know this woman but believe me she will drink and drive again. Maybe not get caught, but maybe next time kill or hurt someone. If she was anywhere near the "legal" limit I could see not taking her to jail but she was DRUNK! And rear-ended someone! I think she should have gone to jail and sit in a holding tank on a stainless steel bench all night having to use the toilet with no seat in front of all the other common people...eating that gourmet peanut butter and jelly then get kicked at 4:00am. Even that never taught me. What are they going to do to her to get it through her head? Throw the book at her I hope! Sounds funny but I wish they would have been harder on me the first time....
