Katie, I cannot know how bereft you and your parents must be at the loss of your beloved home. I do know that having the" fabric" seared and destroyed that is the tapestry of our accumulated lives is a deep and terrible wound to sustain. I am deeply sorry that it was taken in such a careless and wantonly uncivilized manner by the antics of partying College students, hanging out on private property! I cannot conceive that this flagrant disregard for the safety and welfare of the residents in the area will just be ignored by the authorities. I would like to believe that while their names are not published they will be required to perform some service/compensation to the community they have so surely harmed. We live in an age where it is impossible to excuse some behaviors and yet necessary to protect their identities for their own safety. There are consequences to be met nevertheless. I feel confident that this will be the case here. I do not know under what circumstances they will be held accountable but I do feel that they must make amends.
I appreciate your concerns and I hope they are echoed by your community. May the grief and anger you feel dissolve in time and may you and your parents commit to memory all the joys that were once housed under the roof of your gorgeous and much loved dwelling.
