It doesn't matter whether they were forced out or went bankrupt - the point she makes is readily apparent from a quick stroll through that side of La Cumbre - there's definitely a much more highbrow selection of stores.

Don't be overly surprised when the only people that can afford the UC system are from China or Korea - the cost is rapidly approaching that of the Ivy League schools, since those are a lot more liberal with offering grants.

For one thing, buy a bike. Zero emissions (aside from those that you produce after consuming food to fuel yourself), far cheaper than driving (800 dollars for a somewhat decent road bike) and fun.
