What a strange, strange man. Glad there are a number of very qualified candidates to take his place on the council. Seems like his family found moving away from Carp expedient given his shenanigans and now he is following them north. I hope it works out for them.

What an ass. The shenanigans he pulled building his estate and calling it a sod farm? I can only hope he has to mow all that sod himself.

Well I spoke too soon. The attorney for the CSPB is one Stephen Joseph who claims to be a completely 'independent' organization who sues various municipalities that have tried to throttle back on plastic bags.
If you view his website there are links to the various lawsuits he has filed. Now one wonders what his standing is as a plaintiff in these filings. Turns out his backers are a couple of plastic bag manufacturers. Which in hindsight, is obvious.

Agreed- who are these clowns? The Koch brothers? A secret PAC of Venoco to promote the continued use of pertroleum based products in Carpinteria to boost demand for their drilling?

Sent to a program to teach teenagers about the dangers of drunk driving? The age requirement is about right for Joe. Now if he would grow up a bit further and resign from the Council then I will be further impressed.
On Armendariz Pleads No Contest to Drunk Driving

For the past couple months my co-workers ask me about the drunk stunt man City Councilman in Carp. This is embrarrasing. During the last election Armendariz and Steve McWhirter came by my house to ask for McWhirter's vote. I asked him his opinion of the Venoco oil controversy that was raging at the time- Joe did all the talking and spewed forth a bunch of mumbo jumbo without coming even close to actually answering the question. The Venoco deal was very soundly defeated yet I fear that Joe is being propped up by these very same forces. Choose carefully this time Carp.

I was in jury selection for the second trial. Got to spend a couple of hours watching these four kids during the process. Looked like they were having fun being the center of attention and out of graybar hotel on vacation. It was going to be near impossible to be objective after following the first trial in the media and I, for one, was damn glad to get off.
I certainly hope these guys enjoy the rest of there lives in the slammer. One can only hope that the Rueben gets to experience the same terror that he inflicted to many others.

Pretty self serving and a bit pitiful. The fact is that the Grant, Deardorf, and Sahm voted on the warrior issue the same meeting it was first debated. What should have been a deliberative process left many to feel that the three members of the board had just completely shut down any public comment on the issue.
Perhaps Grants imperious attitude further ingnited the overwhelming number of her constituents that felt slighted by her snap decision. Regardless, the issue was poorly handled from the start and snowballed from there. To cast the town as a bunch of ignorant felons is all the more reason that plaque should be returned to CSUB.
