There didn't need to be any NEW evidence in the trial. All that was needed was a north county jury. No hand wringing or seeing the world through rose colored glasses. Common sense was the only requirement and that is what you get with a jury from the north county.

The only bad smell that has been lingering around the judicial system lately is that of Darryl (I try my cases in the court of public opinion) Genis.

I don't recall seeing this story in the News Press. Oh yeah, I forgot. They only print senstionalized news about the police without substantiating any facts because they just can't hide their disdain for law enforcement. Thanks for picking up (and hiring) the News Press employee discards, Indy. You've come a long way baby!!!!!

Is Rios a professor or a Latino activist? Seriously. Comparing the police to a gang? You should be ashamed of yourself to allow that type of comparison to go on with applause from the crowd without making the distinction between the two. Rios has lost all credibility in my mind and is nothing more than a social acitivist, not a sociologist.

I see the usual suspects are all at it again. I think they just wait for whatever cause will come their way to protest. Greed, the Economy, the War, George W. Bush! Hey wait a minute. The war and George W. Bush????? Where have all the protests gone for the war? Isn't the war still going on and Obama pledged to bring the troops home? No blood for oil and the rest of their chants! Where is the outrage? Oh, that's right, these same knuckleheads won't protest about that now, because their guy is in office, so it's Ok. Can you say HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!!

Would someone please tell me why the Sheriff thinks he needs to appease this activist group in the first place? Does the Sheriff make the laws for impounding cars of those who have no driver's license? No he doesn't. So quit barking up the wrong tree. The Sheriff enforces the laws and that is what we should all expect him to do, end of story. Quit dancing between the raindrops and just tell us that you intend to do your job and enforce laws to the best of your abilities without giving radical activist groups like PUEBLO any legitimacy in the first place.

If a developer tried to build housing in the same area they would be denied in a split second. The Chumash should not be able to do an end around just because of who they are. The land is agriculture land and should remain so. The entire landscape of what the tribe begged for initially has changed. It went from Self Reliance (remember that term) to Self Indulgence. Politicians need to take a page from Nancy Reagan. JUST SAY NO!
