Thanks Whatphotosb for your not so nice input about people are dumb. I asked for an answer to my question or information about it.
Do you have any idea about fire retardant? There is different type of fire retardants and they have come out with some that are less toxic and that is the reason why I wanted to know which one they used. .

In what part of my e-mail did I say that they should not use fire retardant and let the fire burn. Besides, the fire is more and more controlled and not right next to our house anymore, thanks to the wonderful firefighters.

Sorry for wanting to know what fire retardant was used and for being concerned about our childrens health and everyone's health. If you are not concerned about fire retardant, good for you.
Most of us do care about our health.

Most people also wore masks when the ashes were blowing, some did not. Some people want to protect themselfs from breathing in ashes that they say can hurt peoples health. And I wanted to know information about fire retardant and what type they used and how harmful that stuff is, what is wrong with trying to be informed.

Fire Retardant.
Does anyone have information about what type of fire retardant was used during the fire?

Fire retardant, some are highly toxic, others less. Fire fighters are exposed to it, wildlife and now us. For anyone unfamiliar, it's the red stuff they used to put out the fire.

Does anyone know if it will still be in the soil in 2-3 years from now?
When the wind blows will it blow ashes and fire retardant into our homes and cause health issues for our young kids and infants?

We are already surrounded by things treated with fire retardant. There is many different types. I know there was talk last year about stopping the use of some very toxic fire retardant.

Please, does anyone know what fire retardant was used during the fire????

I am very glad that even Janet Wolf took notice that information was not as quick and in detail as people needed it to be at those crucial moments.
And yes a 24 hour radio station during that time right from the start is a must have.

When the power went out radio was the only way left to get info. As at that time the information phone number they had was either busy or just gave a recorded message of being closed. Later when we were 1/2 way through the fire finally they had numbers to call, but by that time the fire was more controlled than the days before. At the beginning days when information was needed, there was very little to none.

The Independent Ray covered everything so well. I remember one night as he drove around and gave a detailed info on where the flames were now, no one else told us where the flames were. It was the best thing and best info. You put yourself out there. Aside from the amazing fire fighters that saved our town, the Independent and Ray did an amazing job informing us fast.

The independent covered everything so well and in detail, but with no power and power going on and off it was often difficult to get immidiate information. For example, why is there thick smoke coming down our street when hours earlier I didn't see flames or smoke. And where is the fire now, as homes right next to us were evacuated. After all that scare they finally had the new number, but when we needed the info by phone or radio it was not available. .
Thanks to all that helped.

On Favorable Friday Winds Aided Firefighting Efforts

I just wanted to let everyone know that the number 961-5770 that is shown everywhere as fire info contact number does not give any information about the fire. First of all I tried 40 times and the line was busy all the time.
Finally I got through and I got a recorded message saying that they are closed weekends and holidays.

There was absolutely no info about the fire at all. I find it rather horrible that there is not one number to call to get information about the fire. We had to drive around a few times and talk to police or any personal to make sure we don't need to evacuate as we are the first row of houses on the south side of cathedral oaks, right across from the mandatory evacuation area.

We had very heavy smoke coming our way, like fog rolling in, but no radio station had any news, no one did. The radio at that point was only playing music, all stations. That can be very disturbing when you have 4 firetrucks lined up 5 houses up the street and smoke coming down the canyon, and no information anywhere about what is going on and what we should do. Power was out too.

Sorry to say, but this should be a lot better organized and better updated for us people. Information is lacking, and information eventually comes our way but when, 1, 2, 3 hours later.

WE NEED TO HAVE A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL (specially during power outage). NEED A WEBSITE THAT UPDATES EVERY 30 MINUTES WITH DETAILED NEW INFO ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE FIRE.

Thank you so much for all the great coverage on the fire. I was waiting and hoping for someone to show a map where the fire is. The independent coverage is better than the internet TV website or any of the County or Fire department websites. As we have no TV we rely on the internet and all of you are on top of everything. Great detailed information. Now we all are able to know what is going on with the fire. It is frustrating that no other website shows or tells us enough info. The map is great, the previous info from last night was great. And even the info from the first night as well. Good job. Thank you for being there for us people. Thank you.
