What was the Iraq war for then? We lost family so oil guys could go in and take control. Now we don't want to import what we paid for in blood so their shareholders could make profit off us? No slander, pure fact geeber speaks when 'The oil and gas industry has proven to be the most corrupt sector of American business.' That is why it is the most profitable.
Locally produced oil is for sale on the open market. It is not for the exclusive use of us locals even we use more than they produce. Live in Burma with lots of $ and a taste for Santa Maria oil in a barrel? They will sell to you.

'locally produced oil is environmentally superior.' this argument is a farce. Just because it is produced locally doesn't mean it stays here. It is for sale on the open market. Which means 'more oil-filled tankers traversing the ocean.'

'When did earning a living become immoral?' when they make a killing instead of a living. When they spill and have no idea how to clean it up. When taxpayers subsidize (socialism) the most profitable industry in known history. When scientists (what is it, 97%? or more) say that throwing more carbon into the atmosphere will change conditions akin to one of the great extinction events this planet has seen. Then it is not immoral, it is a crime or worse.
