It's a fair criticism, Anthony, and I wondered if anyone would make it. I wrestled with it a bit myself and decided, ultimately, to go ahead and write the column, because I was intrigued by the idea of women "throwing (other) women under the bus."
I do try to wrap the column around local events, and I do write frequently about women's issues from sex to parenting to friendships, so this seemed a topic worth exploring.
I can see how it might appear as a plug, but consider this:
If I had disguised the fact that we're friends, would that have made the column MORE ethical, in your eyes? It didn't in mine, so I was honest about the relationship.
Also, it's a small town, and I meet lots of talented, interesting people every week. Does our acquaintance preclude me from writing about them if they're doing stuff worth talking about?
Sticky issues, n'est-ce pas? There's a lot to talk about here; perhaps I ought to write a column on it. In the meantime, then, I'd best refrain from calling you "friend," but I thank you for your well-argued comments just the same.

I'm told if you "Like" DANCEworks or Lobero Theatre on Facebook, they'll reveal the time/date/location to you there.

Bionicman, God bless you, too, whatever that means. And Gold bless poor Mr. Kincade. Your humanitarian master was just arrested for drunk driving: http://www.ksbw.com/news/23896476/det...
