  • THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA HAS
    EXTENDED THE
    * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
    WEST CENTRAL MONTEREY COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...
    * UNTIL 1145 AM PST
    * AT 1039 AM PST...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE
    WARNED AREA. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY IF IT HAS
    NOT ALREADY BEGUN. EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER THE WARNED AREA WILL
    CAUSE MUD SLIDES NEAR STEEP TERRAIN. THE MUD SLIDE CAN CONSIST OF
    ROCK...MUD...VEGETATION AND OTHER LOOSE MATERIALS. THE PRIMARY
    THREAT WILL BE ROCKS AND OTHER DEBRIS WASHING ONTO HIGHWAY ONE
    ALONG THE BIG SUR COASTLINE. HEAVY RUNOFF COULD RESULT IN DELAYED
    FLOODING AND MUD SLIDES WELL AFTER THE RAIN HAS ENDED.
