  • Special Weather Statement for Southern Sacramento Valley County, California
  • Special Weather Statement issued September 21 at 4:04PM PDT by NWS
  • Effective: Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1 a.m.
  • Expires: Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 7 p.m.
  • ...Showers and isolated thunderstorms through this evening...
Doppler radar showed scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms
over the Sierra. Some of these showers were heavy and producing
brief accumulations of snow and slush on area roads around the
Tahoe Basin. While widespread heavy snowfall is not expected, be
prepared if you must travel into the Sierra this evening. Take
chains just in case and allow for extra time to reach your
destination. The closer we get to sundown, the longer it will take
for the snow and slush to clear. Check road conditions before
    leaving.
