Overpopulation and Overseas Workers

My work in the Philippines has taught me that the daughters are considered property of the parents until married, although that is not the law. When one daughter tired of supporting her parents and younger siblings after more than a decade of working abroad, the parents began selling property she had bought for her own use in retirement to put the youngest daughter through college and send her overseas to continue the dependence. I am convinced that the only way to break this cycle is to refuse work visas to any citizen of a country that has not reached population stability. Over time this would remove a powerful incentive to have more children than the family can provide for and reverse the Philippines slide into overpopulation. It is already the fastest growing population in Asia.
