On the last Wednesday of every month (and sometimes the last two Wednesdays), SpiritLand Bistro BYOB Wine & Dine events provide a chance to taste many different wines of a particular theme and enjoy an organic four-course meal prepared to complement the featured wine.
The restaurant also brings in an "industry expert," which-- after reading looking a their list of special guests of dinners' past and future-- looks like some really fantastic local winemakers (think Melville, Qupe, Ampelos, Foley...). This person entertains and educates the tasters between courses, so that, by the end of the evening, everyone leaves a little bit more wine-savvy than before.
Likewise, the sharing-oriented event encourages social interaction among attendees, fostering a friendly, community-oriented space.
This month's event, "Zinfandel: Paso Robles vs. Sonoma," will take place on April 28th, and feature Etienne Terlinden of Summerland Winery. To accompany the Zinfandels, guests will enjoy assorted gourmet cheeses, bison and black bean chili, BBQ game hen over polenta and greens, and finish off with a chocolate hazelnut tart (vegetarian options available).
To attend, make sure to call and reserve a space by mid-month, and bring a (nice) bottle to share of the theme wine.
