In case any Santa Barbarans have an inkling for some art, culture, and community to go with their Sauv Blancs, Cabernets, and Syrahs, Santa Barbara Winery will provide a great melangé of the three on Friday, May 14 at 6:30pm, when it hosts a screening of From Ground to Glass, a film about local director Rob Dafoe's intrepid jump into the winemaking world.
Dafoe, a filmmaker and photographer born and raised in Santa Barbara, decided to pursue his dream of delving into the barrel and--luckily for us--brought his camera along. Also screened at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, From Ground to Glass recounts Dafoe's journey, featuring conversations with wine industry celebs like Richard Sanford (Alma Rosa), Jim Clendenen (Au Bon Climat), and Warren Winiarski (Stag's Leap).
A tasting with food pairings from Pierre La Fond Wine Bistro will immediately follow the screening. Meanwhile, attendees will enjoy some Q&A with DaFoe and local winemakers (T.B.A).
The event will undoubtedly put some culture and sophistication into any old glass of vino.
Santa Barbara Winery, 202 Anacapa St., (805) 963-3363
Tickets are $50.00 per person and include the film screening, wine, and food pairings.
