Whether its the church, community, or fine wines that piques your interest, start saving up for Los Olivos' St. Mark's-in-the-Valley's first ever "Cellar Classic: An Auction of Rare and Fine Wines" event on August 1.
The Epsicopal church invites all wine lovers to attend the live auction of rare collectables, like a 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild, a 1996 Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin, and a 1992 Taylor Vintage Port. Attendees will also bid on wine-related gifts and vacation packages while noshing on gourmet hors d'oeuvres and enjoying live entertainment.
All proceeds will go toward the church's community programs and services, which include hosting the area's Jewish congregation, Food Bank, Valley Community Theatre, and recovery groups. The donations will also facilitate the church's local art programs and pre-school.
Co-chair Steve Pepe (of Clos Pepe; other co-chairs are Richard Harris of Calzada Ridge and Brooks Firestone of Curtis Winery) explains:
"St. Mark’s depends on the generosity of its parishioners and the community – especially the wine community surrounding it – to provide sufficient funds to continue its mission to openly serve an increasingly diverse and active population with a range of needs. It really seems fitting that St. Mark’s hosts this special auction of select fine wines, donated by local vintners, collectors and wine enthusiasts."
Tickets are $100 in advance, $125 a the door (if available).
