EAGLE EYE: The first bald eagle baby to hatch on the Channel
Islands in more than 50 years is coming soon to a computer screen
near you. Having cracked out of its shell earlier this spring, it
is already the star of its very own reality TV show. The
solar-powered Santa Cruz Island bald eagle webcam was officially
launched this week by the Channel Islands National Park to allow
the public to witness the historic five-week-old chick as it
navigates the ins and outs of life outside the shell. You can watch
the magic daily from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at chil.vcoe.org/eagle_cam.htm,
where the baby bird eats regurgitated fish, explores the nest,
naps, and – perhaps as early as late June – learns to fly.
