Fresco Change-O:

With the stoves barely cool from Citronelle’s July 9 closing, Mark and Jill Brouillard have already converted the space atop the Santa Barbara Inn into Fresco at the Beach. An extension of their uptown empire, they hope to liven up the restaurant with salads, soups, tapas, and other beach-appropriate fare created by Chef Jason Banks. Check it out at their grand opening this Sunday, July 16, 2-5 p.m. The restaurant officially opens July 17. 901 E. Cabrillo Blvd., 966-3636,

Sandwich Secrets:

The best-kept lunchtime secret? The tri-tip sandwiches each Wednesday at Reds. Sure, their regular fare is good (especially the breakfast burritos), but with thick, juicy slices of tri-tip, a crusty roll, and oodles of make-you-cry hot horseradish, these sandwiches are well worth the wait. (But you didn’t hear it from me.) Reds Cafe, 211 Helena St., 966-5906, www.redssb.com.

Correction:

Contrary to what we reported in the June 29 Tidbits column, Emilio’s owner Michael DePaola says he is not, in fact, selling the restaurant.
