The historical celebration of Fiesta began under the first full
moon of August 82 years ago, and the warmth and romance of August
nights have become synonymous with the vibrant celebration that is
Fiesta. And, when contemplating the theme for this year’s Fiesta,
this year’s El Presidente of Old Spanish Days Fiesta, Roger Perry,
suitably came up with “Under the August Moon.”

Perry is an eighth-generation Santa Barbara resident in his 14th
year as an active Fiesta board member and his fifth year on the
executive committee. Much deserving of his current
responsibilities, Perry regularly attends local fundraising events
throughout the year; organizes such events as La Primavera and
Fiesta’s mercados; owns Perry Insurance Service, a health insurance
agency for small- to medium-sized companies; and is the vice
president for the West Side Boys and Girls Club, and a director for
the United Boys and Girls Club of Greater S.B. When he is not out
representing the best of Santa Barbara, Perry enjoys his busy home
life with his wife Gina and their four children. Perry’s experience
throughout the years and his love for the community represent the
true essence of Fiesta.
