Landheer%20%26%20Jones.jpgAfter fewer than eight hours of
deliberation, a jury found Malinda Jones guilty of first-degree
murder and conspiracy to commit murder with her husband Philip
Jones, who pulled the trigger. Because the jury also found her
guilty of lying in wait to murder her former son-in-law Jarrod
Davidson, she could face life in prison without parole if the
verdict stands. Her defense attorney, Robert Landheer, plans to
move for a new trial on the grounds that this one was unfair. He
said he “was stuck with just a shadow defense” because he was not
allowed to present his client’s motive, which he said was her
certainty that Davidson was molesting her granddaughter Malia.
After hearing the verdict, the victim’s tearful parents faced
television cameras, thanking the prosecution for “this day of
justice” two years after their son was murdered. Malinda Jones, who
appeared stoic in the face of the verdict, is set to be sentenced
on October 16.Davidsons.jpg
