Spotlight On the Jane Deering Gallery

Offering an alternative to the typical white-cube gallery, Jane
Deering, owner of the eponymous space in Montecito, has turned her
part-time home into a gallery space celebrating the contemporary
art of two coasts and two continents. Between January and April she
lives in Montecito, dividing the remainder of her time between
Massachusetts, where her home is also a display space for
contemporary artists, and London.

Her cross-continental background is the basis for the new
exhibition, Other Visions + Other Strategies: New Directions in
European and American Contemporary Art. Her goal is to give
European artists, nine of whom are in this exhibit, more exposure
in the States, while also showcasing the best and brightest of
America’s East and West Coast talent. Enhancing the contemporary
art scene of every one of her hometowns while mixing as many
regions, artists, and media as possible is Jane’s forte, and she
shows it in her choices of painting, sculpture, paper art, and much
more for her Santa Barbara debut.
