The Sojourner Cafe, established in 1978, has now become the very first business in the county to start composting all of its food-preparation scraps. The restaurant became part of an unheralded pilot program jointly undertaken several weeks ago by the City of Santa Barbara, City College, and Cottage Hospital. BFI is contributing its hauling services for free, picking up and trucking the compost to a location near Santa Maria five days a week.
