The harmless fringe of an earthquake rattled the homes of sleeping Santa Barbara, Camarillo, and Ventura residents around 1 a.m. on 8/9. The quake registered a magnitude of 4.6, and it originated 4.7 miles beneath the earth’s surface but caused no major damage. The epicenter was three miles northwest of Chatsworth, in the San Fernando Valley.
