• The Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation hosts its second annual luncheon to benefit children’s post-cancer emotional recovery on Tuesday, September 18, at 11 a.m. at the Four Seasons Biltmore (1260 Channel Dr.). Guest speakers include best-selling author, cancer survivor, and celebrity mom Betty DeGeneres, as well as Dr. Daniel Greenfield, Cottage Children’s Hospital’s medical director of pediatric oncology. • Join fellow advocates of the controversial and much talked about Light Blue Line project for a free meeting on Monday, September 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the South Coast Watershed Resource Center, Arroyo Burro County Beach Park. Topics of discussion will include future steps in making the Light Blue Line a reality, as well as ways to help stop global warming.

• Exercise, help raise money, and support school programs in the Goleta Union School District on Sunday, September 16. The Goleta Education Foundation hosts its third annual 4-Miler Race, which will benefit music and physical education curriculums within the district. Meet at the district’s headquarters (401 N.
