Rosemead resident Ping Yang rolled her car in the northbound lane of Highway 101 near Winchester Canyon Road this morning. According to a report from California Highway Patrol spokesman Donald Clotworthy, Yang’s Toyota drifted out of the leftmost lane and into the center divider before flipping when Yang could not regain control. An off-duty nurse who happened to be traveling on the highway helped Yang resume normal breathing before emergency crews extricated her and transported her by ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Clotworthy noted that Yang’s injuries were not considered life-threatening and that she probably fared as well as she did because she was wearing her seatbelt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
