The latest development in the ongoing budget chaos of the Santa Barbara School District came unexpectedly last week when district budget guru Ed Diaz resigned on 10/19. With the district for less than a year, Diaz-who left to pursue other career options-is the second fiscal official to quit amid the budget woes. Robert Wolfe, who worked under Diaz as the director of Fiscal Services, resigned this past summer in the wake of undue budget cuts and unaccounted for surplus cash.
