• This Friday, October 26, from 6-9 p.m. Santa Barbara Art Studios (709 E. Mason St.) hosts an opening for painter, photographer, and poet Judy Jones. The exhibit will feature oil paintings and startling images from her book, Bones of the Homeless. All sales will benefit the St. Brigid Fellowship, which offers counseling for Isla Vista’s homeless population.

• After nearly six decades of assisting families in Santa Barbara, the Starr King Parent-Child Workshop is still going strong. On Friday, October 26, from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., the nonprofit will hold its 59th annual Rummage Sale at 1525 Santa Barbara Street. Along with toys, clothes, furniture, books, tools, and treasures, the event will feature a gourmet lunch and refreshments.

• Arts Outreach hosts its sixth annual Real Men Cook charity cook-off, featuring up to 50 amateur chefs and a ton of cuisine categories in which to compete. Tickets are $60 at the door; the event takes place Saturday, October 27, from 6-10 p.m. at Flag Is Up Farms (901 E. Highway 246, Solvang). Call 688-9533.
