Theater is back and in full swing this season, and, at least in Santa Barbara, thespians are out to prove that taking in a play isn’t just for Mom and Dad. With a number of fun, divergent entertainment choices currently rolling through town, we encourage you to grab the kids and head on out to some of these children-friendly productions.

Describing himself a cross between Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, a stand-up comic, and a folk musician, Zak Morgan is one children’s artist guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages. Check out Zakland at the Goleta, Carpinteria, Eastside, and Central branches of the Santa Barbara Public Library on Tuesday, November 13, and Wednesday, November 14. Visit zakmorgan.com for times.

The Boxtales Theatre Company stars as a curious two-headed bookworm ravenous to learn about the world’s myths in Meta-Myth-a-Morphosis. Native American hoop dancers, graceful Chinese “long-sleeve” twirlers, traditionally garbed Afghani dancers, and explosively rhythmic West African drummers will fill the Lobero for this family-friendly, culturally rich event taking place Saturday, November 10, at 2 p.m. Call 963-0761 for tickets.
